Team Leader, Cast Resin Transformers Electrical Engineering
Since 2019 at SGB

Please introduce yourself briefly

From 2010 to 2016, I studied electrical and information engineering, first at OTH Regensburg and later at the Technical University of Munich. After a year as a research assistant at the Chair of High-Voltage and Power Systems Engineering at the Technical University and a stint as a restaurant manager in upscale dining, my path led me to SGB in January 2019, where I started in electrical design for cast resin transformers. In May 2021, I was given the opportunity to take over as team leader there, which is why I have been responsible for electrical calculations ever since.

Describe your typical workday in three words

Varied – (highly) exciting – challenging

In my day-to-day work, hardly any two days are alike. The numerous interactions with other departments, the challenges of day-to-day operations, and working on new projects mean that I’m never bored, both technically and socially. It’s always exciting to see what challenges, surprises, and new tasks the new workday has in store.

What has been your most exciting experience at SGB so far?

In addition to the daily demands and challenges I face as a team leader, I’m also involved in other areas, such as development and client projects. That’s why I spent nearly a month at our site in Ohio as part of the certification process for a client project targeting the U.S. market. I got to know my colleagues personally, gained insight into their daily work and the local conditions, and was able to experience life in the U.S. much more intensely – not just as a tourist, but as part of the team.

Who would you recommend this job to?

At first glance, I wouldn’t recommend my job to anyone – but only because I’d be very reluctant to give it up! It requires a combination of technical expertise, a willingness to think outside the box, the ability to make decisions, and a passion for working with people. While I discuss many technical topics with my team, I also get to represent and coordinate these matters on the organizational side when we interact with other departments. All in all, this makes my job a great mix of technology and social interaction.

What do you like to do most to unwind after work?

In my free time, I enjoy meeting up with friends for a nice glass of wine, curling up on the couch with a good book, staying in shape by working out, or going to concerts of all kinds.

But what recharges me the most is traveling to discover new cultures, countries, and people, feeding my mind with new experiences, and perhaps even incorporating wine, books, and concerts into the mix.
