Two large power transformers delivered by Royal SMIT ready for installation on Offshore platform TenneT.

TenneT project Hollandse Kust (North) offshore wind recently received two 400MVA, 220kV power transformers which are currently being installed on the platform at the jobsite in Hoboken.

Partner in Power
Royal SMIT designed and manufactured so far six of these large power transformers for TenneT NL for their offshore wind projects named as Hollandse Kust (South), Hollanse Kust (South Beta) and Hollandse Kust (North). The four transformers for the “South” projects are currently being installed in Dubai where TenneT is building their platforms. As a strategic partner of TenneT, Royal SMIT is supporting the installation activities on both locations.

Transport to Antwerp
The transformers dedicated for Hollandse Kust (North) departed the facility of Royal SMIT Transformers B.V. in Nijmegen by river barge heading towards the Belgian town of Hoboken. The river barge named Gendtia carefully moves the transformers weighing 300tons each towards their destination in Hoboken.

Energization on the Ocean
After finalizing all the activities in Hoboken Belgium, the platform will be located about 18 kilometers offshore from the city called Egmond aan Zee in the fall of this year. Next summer the topside of the platform will be installed in order to finalize the complete projects by beginning of 2023.
